Guppy Supply — Standard Allocation Criterion

This page publishes the allocation rule applied to Guppy Supply Drops and the dated record of changes to it, as described in Section 4 of the Supply Terms. If this page conflicts with the Supply Terms, the Supply Terms control.

The Standard Allocation Criterion

When a Drop has more Requests than units, units are allocated by a single, mechanical ordering — no random or chance-based selection is used at any stage, and no operator exercises judgment over who receives an Allocation. Unless a Drop states a different Allocation Criterion before its request window opens, Requests within each stage are ordered as follows:

  1. Boost level, highest first. Requests submitted with Boost applied are ordered by the member's Boost level at the moment of Allocation.
  2. Earlier membership start. Ties in Boost level are broken by the earlier start date of the member's current continuous paid membership.
  3. Annual Members first. Remaining ties are broken in favor of Annual Members — members whose current paid membership is on an annual plan when the Drop's request window closes.
  4. Earlier submission. Remaining ties are broken by the earlier Request submission time.
  5. Boost-off Requests follow. Requests submitted without Boost applied come after all Requests submitted with Boost applied, ordered by membership start, then Annual Member status, then submission time.

Units available to a stage are allocated in that order until exhausted, subject to per-member limits and the Partial Fills and Price Protection provisions of the Supply Terms.

Allocation stages and reserved units

A Drop may reserve a stated number of its units for one or both of the following groups. The reserved counts are displayed on the Drop before its request window opens and may differ between Drops.

  • New Members — members within the first 60 days of their first-ever paid Guppy membership.
  • Annual Members — members whose current paid membership is on an annual plan when the Drop's request window closes.

Allocation proceeds in stages: first, New Member units among qualifying Requests; second, Annual Member units among qualifying Requests not filled in the first stage; third, all remaining units among all remaining Requests. Within each stage, Requests are ordered by the Standard Allocation Criterion above. A qualifying Request not filled in a reserved stage remains eligible in each later stage; reserved units not claimed by qualifying Requests carry into the next stage. A Request receives at most one Allocation per Drop.

What is fixed when a request window opens

The Allocation Criterion stated on a Drop when its request window opens is the criterion applied to that Drop and will not be changed after the window opens. The same applies to the Drop's reserved unit counts and per-member limits. Changes to the Standard Allocation Criterion apply only to Drops whose request windows open after the change is published here or in the Supply Terms — never to a Drop whose window is open or has closed.

Change record

The dated record of changes to the Standard Allocation Criterion required by Section 4(e) of the Supply Terms:

  • v3 — effective October 13, 2026. At the same Boost level, the earlier-membership-start tiebreak now comes before Annual Member status (Section 4(d)(ii)), in both the Boost-on and Boost-off orderings; Annual Member status breaks remaining ties ahead of Request submission time. Boost level remains the first ordering input, Annual Member reserved units are unchanged, and no accrued Boost changes. Applies only to Drops whose request windows open on or after the effective date; earlier Drops resolve under the version they stated.
  • v2 — effective September 23, 2026. Annual Members (Section 4(d)(ii)) are ordered ahead of other members at the same Boost level, before the earlier-membership-start tiebreak, in both the Boost-on and Boost-off orderings. Boost level remains the first ordering input and no accrued Boost changes. Applies only to Drops whose request windows open on or after the effective date; earlier Drops resolve under v1.
  • v1 — effective September 19, 2026. Initial publication of the Standard Allocation Criterion: Boost level (highest first), then earlier membership start, then earlier Request submission time, applied over the New Member, Annual Member, and general stages. Replaces the prior discretionary allocation methods, including any random or Boost-weighted selection.
